• A place for women to call home

• A place for safe, nurturing child care for working families

• A place people can come to for counseling and healing

• A place where girls and women are empowered to reach their full potential

• A place where diversity is supported and valued

Since its  beginnings in the days before and during World War II, when Contra Costa County was being transformed by the arrival of defense workers, soldiers and sailors from all over the country, the YWCA of Contra Costa /Sacramento has dedicated itself to meeting the needs of women and girls.

From its start in Richmond, the YWCA has expanded into the communities of Antioch, Bay Point, Oakley, Concord and Martinez. The most recent addition to the YWCA of Contra Costa is the YWCA of Sacramento, the first YWCA in California. YWCA of Sacramento offers breast cancer awareness, affordable housing and a variety of classes and services.

We welcome the participation of women, girls and families who speak Spanish, Farsi  and Chinese.  We appreciate and want to encourage the rich cultural diversity that makes this such a wonderful place to live and work.

Our programs are designed to help women and girls, families and communities achieve their goals and make their own place in the world.
