HIV program
Residents of Contra Costa County who qualify are able to receive free therapy through the Ryan White Fund for a certain amount of time. Clients must be referred through the Contra Costa HIV Program or an agency affiliated with the HIV Program, such as New Connections or the First Baptist Church in Pittsburg.
Clients are able to discuss issues of importance in therapy with an emphasis being placed on maintaining your health and being socially active, not becoming isolated because of the illness. |

Types of therapy offered for HIV clients include:
* Individual Therapy
* Couple Therapy
* Family Therapy
* Group Therapy
Therapy issues discussed are:
* Anger Management
* Health-Related Issues Ð Communicating with your physician
* Anxiety and Stress
* Depression
* Relationship Issues due to the illness such as:
o Domestic Violence
o Substance Abuse Issues
o Grief and Loss
o Family Issues relating to the illness
o Social Activities and not become isolated due to the illness

All therapists have experienced working with clients from diverse populations and a Spanish interpreter is available for clients who only speak Spanish.
The therapist works closely with the clientÕs physician to better understand the clientÕs illness by attending monthly rounds. The therapist also works very closely with the clientÕs case manager to ensure the client receives all needed services.
HIV clients are seen in Martinez, Richmond, Bay Point and Antioch. |
